“Making God Laugh” follows one typical American family over the course of thirty years’ worth of holidays. Starting in 1980, Ruthie and Bill’s grown children – a priest, an aspiring actress, and a former football star – all return home, where we learn of their plans and dreams as they embark on their adult lives. The empty-nester parents contend with their own changes, too, as old family rituals are trotted out and ancient tensions flare up. As time passes, the family discovers that, despite what we may have in mind, we often arrive at unexpected destinations.

“Quilters” –

PERFORMANCES:  May 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18 at 7:30pm & May 5, 12, 19 at 2:00pm

The story of a pioneer woman and her six daughters, Quilters blends a series of interrelated scenes into a rich mosaic which captures the sweep and beauty, the terror and joy, and the harsh challenges and abiding rewards of frontier life. Illuminating stories depict the life of women on the frontier: girlhood, marriage, childbirth, spinsterhood, twisters, fire, illness, and death. In the end, when the various patches are assembled into one glorious, brilliantly colorful quilt, the effect is both breathtaking and magical—and a theatrical masterstroke which will linger in the mind and memory long after the house lights have risen.
